Tshabalala's Rocket ignites World Cup

What a start ! A truly brilliant goal by Siphiwe Tshabalala got things off to the perfect start.

And a really fun and catchy celebration.

Mexico stalwart Rafael Marquez scored a slightly lucky equalizer as he beat the offside trap,  managing to send the ball, sliced off his outstep, into the net.

Mexico dominated the first half but Premiership pair Carlos Vela and Guillermo Franco were a waste.  As well, Giovanni Dos Santos was unlucky as a perfectly good goal was ruled out for offside.

Bafana Bafana had the edge in the second half and a late post saved Mexico when Katlego Mphela skimmed the outside of the goal with a great shot.

Flowing, attacking, end to end action, this is what the World Cup is all about:

In the second game, France and Uruguay were both rubbish as a stale game steadily got worse.

Diego Forlan had the best shot with a curler that Hugo Lloris palmed away.  Other than that, France had a few decent long range efforts, but nothing to trouble Fernando Muslera in the opposing goal.

Oh, and after coming on in the 63rd minute Uruguay's Nicolas Lodeira managed to get two yellow cards and be sent off.

Horrible game.  What an anti climax.
