Brazil come to town and fail to impress

New Zealand kept up their run of surprising upsets with a late late goal to deny Slovakia.

Robert Vittek put the Slovaks up with a well headed goal after dominating proceedings.

Still, the Kiwis showed they can never be counted out with a last minute equalizer from Winston Reid.

Both goals came from crosses, both goals were the first for their nation's at the World Cup.

Portugal and Ivory Coast next played up a bore draw that kept up the theme of things.  Both sides created little, ventured less and barely strung a set of passes together.

Didier Drogba made a late appearance with an arm cast under long sleeves but was unable to alter proceedings.

Finally Brazil showed up to play North Korea.  However, the much anticipated goal fest failed to materialize.  The Selecao showed brief glimpses of flair and class before labouring to 55 minutes without a goal.

Then finally the deadlock was broken with an absolute bullet from Maicon.  His crossed shot sailed parallel to the touchline before viciously curling in to slot home between near post and North Korean goalkeeper.

Kaka then helped add to the score with a beautiful defence splitting pass to Elano who stroked home the second goal with a first time shot.

Brazil, promptly went to sleep with a jocular winding down that allowed North Korea to pull one back through Ji Yun Nam.
